We’ll do things at a level 10, then float casually in between. A brewery tour, some cycle days, & plenty of boutique clubs. We’ll go deep on three grand cities, lifting the lid on these cultured hubs.
Ready and raring for a banquet of cultural travel, we’ll round up in Germany’s chic capital. With more museums than rainy days per year, Berlin is a place worth knowing about.
Today we can cruise Berlin the vintage way, taking a tour in the official cars of the DDR. When hunger strikes, the carnivores could spend some time differentiating bockwurst from kinderwurst from fleischwurst. Meanwhile the more vegan inclined could sample a jackfruit burger or cashew bolognese at the solar powered organic hotel of Amaranth.
If yesterday’s independent food roamings whet the appetite for something more substantial, then todays offer of a progressive food tour should provide ample satisfaction. Later you could let kilos settle by sipping tea in a palace at the Tajik Tearoom, or by walking the abandoned building of Museumswohnung museum where you can see remnants of the communist era.
Berlin With a sidestep into Scandinavia on the agenda, leaving Berlin need not be a sad occasion. Grab your last sausage staples before we put our skates on & journey across land & sea to Denmark. Rostock We’ll arrive in Rostock on the banks of Germany, the port of our next transport via ferry. After a short stint on the Baltic Sea, we’ll start the slide up to Copenhagen. Copenhagen The capital of this fine Kingdom will greet us with open arms & ample pastries. As an introduction we’ll skyrocket our spirits with a trip to Tivoli, where a “pleasure garden” of roller coasters & carousels drag in almost 5million annual visitors.
Today we can go deep on the city’s streets, taking a bike tour in proper Danish fashion. With the health box ticked will have deserved a little indulging, a great time to pop by the Carlsberg Brewery. Those keen to see an alternative living hippie sphere can venture to Christiania & see the wild Pusher Street markets.
Today we can tap into the overflowing of gastronomic goodness in this city of trendy restaurants in idyllic locations. Also on today’s agenda will be a cruise of Copenhagen’s pretty canals, where pastel house facades meet rows of wooden motorboats.
Copenhagen Grab your final stash of glazed apple Danishes before we move on for Norway. The sweet waffle like treat of ‘krumkaker’ awaits us as replacement. Gothenburg En route to Norway we’ll cruise through Sweden, knowing our legitimate encounter with the country is just a few days away. We’ll kick on through the gorgeous Gothenburg, known for its enchanting pink streets during cherry blossom season. Oslo Vibes will be high on arrival in Norway, known for its natural beauty and summertime midnight sun. Tonight we can take a tour by tram, or keep things easy with a few akevitt for the purpose of tradition.
In the spirit of adventure, Oslo offers us a trip to the Ski Jump Museum. With the rest of the day, if you’re not coasting the streets on two wheels you could grab a smoothie bowl and stroll the vintage shops and boutiques of Grünerløkka.
Count your kronas & get your priorities in order, today offers a cruise into one of the most naturally stunning landscapes on the planet; Norway’s fjords. If unfathomable valley vistas don’t get you purring, food truck fish ‘n’ chips at Aker Brygge waterfront and meander the boardwalk to the architectural masterpiece that is Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art.
Hearts they be shattering this morning, as we wrap up our European expedition. We’ll leave feeling tremendously cultured, raring for our next succulent venture.
