Mexico. A country of passion: passion for art, for music, for sport and most of all, for food. Sharing a border with the Unites States to the north and Belize & Guatemala to the south, its food is as diverse as its terrain. Designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, Mexico was the first country to attain this status for its national cuisine; a rich blend of indigenous and Spanish influence. Savor ceviche, sip tequila, shop with an expert in a local market and see how regional foods are prepared. Throw out those preconceived notions of what Mexican food is all about & get ready to experience authentic dishes, Munch style.

Itinerary

01

Day 1: Puerto Vallarta

Puerta Vallarta will be sure to impress as your first destination. One of the most popular beach towns in Mexico known as the 'Mexican Riviera'. Spa, pool, relax, repeat are all high on the agenda today. You’ll be thinking – ah, this is the life and then we'll top it all off with a stunning beachfront dinner, with the water and twinkling lights setting an unforgettable scene.

02

Day 2: Puerto Vallarta

Today you’re free as a bird and that means exploring as much or as little of Puerto Vallarta as you like. Punta Mita is known for perfect beginner waves if surfing in a secluded bay is your thing. If not, there's plenty more on offer. Like the sound of a pirate ship cruise compete with an acrobatic performance and fireworks? Or maybe you'd prefer day tripping to the pretty village of Yelapa, where you'll get to swim, snorkel and kayak the emerald waters of Majahuitas cove? Tonight is a free one, but given you're by the coast, fresh seafood or even lobster could be on the menu for tonight.

03

Day 3: Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara via Tequila

Load up on tequila jokes, as that's exactly where we're heading this morning.
Legendary by name, often dangerous by nature, we all have a tequila story or two lurking in our pasts, but who knew this iconic drink was actually a place? Well, now you do, and no prizes for guessing what you'll be doing whilst here... We'll be visiting a distillery where you'll get to learn about the process, as well as (of course) sampling Mexico's most famous, and national drink.
Potentially feeling a little fuzzy of head, later on this afternoon we'll arrive into Gaudalajara, otherwise known as the Pearl of the West. Chill out this evening, or maybe head into the city to catch one of the infamous Mariachi bands do its thing.

04

Day 4: Guadalajara to Guanajuato

We'll spend the morning exploring the city's four main squares and cathedral, strolling around the streets and generally getting a feel for the old and new world architecture that this place is best known for, before it's on to Guanajuato.
Arriving into the old colonial city of Guanajuato, we'll get the low down on this famous silver mining town and the way in which the economy has shaped much of its culture. Heavy on Spanish influence, this UNESCO World Heritage city will transport you to another time, encouraging you to get lost for hours in its quaint cobblestone alleyways. Uncover the tales of the town, including the famous 'Mummies' and equally famous lovers at the 'Alley of Kisses'. Or, head to the Hidalgo Market, designed by Gustav Eiffel himself (the guy who's kind of a big deal in Paris...). After a busy day of exploring, we'll finish up with a group dinner that will see us feasting on traditional regional flavours.

05

Day 5: Guanajuato to Mexico City via San Miguel de Allende

Thanks to exploring the bright facades of the buildings of this Guanajuato, your eyes should be wide open by now.
...And just in time too, because the "Pueblo Magico" Magic Town of San Miguel de Allende is a total feast for the eyes, and our lunch stop for the day.
Mexico City is the largest city in the country and impressively, the oldest capital in Central America. Known for it's Aztec temple, it's surprising altitude at 2200m, and mountainous landscape, this is busy, bustling and oh so wonderful.

06

Day 6: Mexico City

The theme 'getting out there' will take on a whole new meaning today as we take in Mexico City in all her glory. We'll visit the floating gardens, drop by Coyoacan, the birthplace of Frida Kahlo, and even take to the water for a cruise on a traditional Trajinera boat. Keen to know where to get your paws on all the local ingredients and spices you've been tasting? Our local market visit will reveal all. Tonight, let loose in the city where street food is king, and the mood is strictly loco.

07

Day 7: Mexico City

Up for doing something utterly legendary? This morning, why not take to the skies for a hot air balloon ride over the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan - the views are seriously something else. If heights ain't your thing, don't stress - we'll also be exploring this ancient city, together with its pyramids and Aztec Temples on foot, accompanied by local guides who will give us all the history deets. Tonight we've got a Munch worthy evening meal lined up for you, then depending on when you're in town, why not experience Lucha Libre, or Mexican wrestling. Jack Black not included, unfortunately.

08

Day 8: Mexico City to Merida

Ciao for now, Mexico City. We'll be seeing you again soon, but not before we slow the pace way down and book ourselves in for some beach time.
Soft and beautiful, Merida will take you in her arms and show you the quieter side of Mexico. A walking tour will show off this small town’s gorgeous atmosphere, and it won't take you long to feel right at home once you reach the old town. You’ll have some free time to explore the bustling markets rich in treasures to take home. Tonight, we'll learn to cook regional dishes of the Yucatan including Cochinita Pibil - yum, yum, yum.

09

Day 9: Merida to Cancun via Chichen Itza

Pack up your swag of Mexican trinkets and say goodbye to the calm oasis of Merida and hello yet another incredible UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, Chichen Itza.
These ancient ruins are the most famous and best preserved of their kind in Mayan history. These iconic ruins are one of the big ticks of this country, and a true sight to behold. With our Local Guide leading the charge, Chichen Itza will provoke questions about the Mayan calendar, the positioning of the sun, the connections of the ruins around the country, and the worlds that came before us - a truly special spot on the trip and a history buff's delight. With more knowledge than you can handle, it's time for a change of scene, and a dip in an Instagram worthy cenote. These underground lakes or waterholes are are refreshing, lush, foliage covered and a much needed break from the sunshine.
In stark contrast, next up is Mexico’s super resort – Cancun. With high energy party vibes oozing from its pores, this stop is a no brainer when it comes to getting involved in the nightlife. One suggestion for tonight is dinner at the Mercado 28, a busy market serving true Mexican delights before heading out to get your P-A-R-T-Y on.

10

Day 10: Cancun

Just incase you don’t know the drill by now, an ice cold cerveza should remind you that Cancun is a hub of wonderful entertainment. Feel like taking things further afield? A day trip to Playa del Carmen could be just the ticket. White sand beaches, snorkelling, colourful cafes lining the streets and classic locals and shopping will see you living the good life and playing local in paradise. The legendary nightlife will certainly whip up yet another storm of dancing and live music back in Cancun tonight, so go on, get out there tonight and hit the dancefloor with the squad. Your Trip Manager knows this party like the back of their hand, your guarantee to be the know on all the best spots to head.

11

Day 11: Cancun

Fun is the name of the game today in this stunning white sand beach spot. Thrillseekers could take a trip to some hidden waters deep in the tropical jungle. A bit of rural island hopping, zipling a stint at Garrafon Natural Reef Park, a visit to some ancient Mayan ruins and finally some more swimming is all on offer. Explore the offshore coral reefs and caves while the sunshine ripples through the crystal clear water. Then back to Cancun where seafood by the seashore is on the menu for a fabulous open-air sunset dinner with the crew.

12
