2018 From April-2019

Turkey's Gulf of Gökova is an astoundingly under hyped holiday destination. Endearing seaside towns, shrubby mountain backdrops and private coves with shimmering blue sea are being totally missed by the masses. Which makes it perfect for us to explore. Picture yourself aboard a traditional Turkish gulet boat, eating home cooked meals and lapping up sunshine between snorkels.

Day 1: Start Bodrum

Getting straight down to business, this show kicks off in the coastal town of Bodrum within the nest of our traditional Turkish gulet, no less. Gulet is a sailing boat, which looks like it's straight out of Instagram. This will be perfect for lots of boat jumping during our swim stops. After we've settled in and enjoyed a pow-wow over dinner, you're free to check out Bodrum's great nightlife. Just try to make it back before we set sail tomorrow morning...

Day 2: Bodrum to Cokertme via Orak Island

Wave goodbye to the Turkish harbourside, it's time to get salty! Our first journey at sea this morning will take us from the arms of Bodrum and into the pristine Gulf of Gokova.
The drift to Cokertme just can't be done without a stop on Orak Island. Bikini up and get ready to soak up some sunshine and saltwater - the ocean here is crystal clear.
The journey here will be just as good as the destination, with the daybeds onboard the boat creating holiday vibes aplenty.

Day 3: Cokertme to English Harbour via Seven Islands

If yesterday didn't leave you in need of a sleep in, rise in time for the first rays of sunshine as we disembark with Seven Islands on our minds.
The day is yours, Captain Wanderlust. Run through forests, search for sea-creatures, or lull about onboard our boat working on the body's bronze, and relax over daily lunches on board of fresh seafood, salads and fruit to keep hungry sailors at bay. Your Captain knows all the best spots on the island for epic views, and there's time to take them all in during this stop.
Well, day-3 was certainly good for the soul! And so too will tomorrow. We'll pull into English Harbour this eve knowing that a playground awaits our eager eyes in the morning.

Day 4: English Harbour to Karacasogut

Sulphur pools and full body mud masks? Hell yes we'll take the day trip to Dalyan Caunos! And since we're being so at one with nature, searching for endangered loggerhead sea turtles sounds like a very fine idea. Then it's back on the boat as we head towards our next destination.
The beach town of Marmaris in Mugla Province is yours tonight after we dock at the gorgeous marina town of Karacasogut. Tomorrow we'll give you plenty of sunshine and saltwater to remove any remnants of a rapacious night out.

Day 5: Karacasogut to Ballisu via Cleopatra Island

Sailing out of Karacasogut in search of Cleopatra Island - it doesn't get more exotic sounding than that.
Mythologies and seashell shorelines and pretty distant hills make Cleopatra Island one of the most special beaches in the world. After soaking in the seas that apparently once cooled off the real deal Cleopatra, we'll head to Ballisu.
Enjoy the chance for a night swim under the cover of the Turkish stars. Not too many sunsets left, so make the most of the #nofilter lifestyle and sit back and relax and make sure those memories are well intact.

Day 6: Ballisu to Pabuç Burnu via Kisebuku & Kargili

Ballisu will be behind us, but that's okay given a whole day of prettiness sits ahead.
Bays sheltered by pine trees will set your heart into a flutter as we float towards Kargili. Besides taking it very easy on the shore, today's agenda will involve the ancient Byzantine ruins of Kisebuku.
It's our second last night of sailor life, so make the best of tonight at a local bar.

Day 7: Pabuç Burnu to Bodrum via Yaliciftlik

We'll raise the anchor this morning and make our way to a small local village on the coast, because stretching out those legs could be just what's in order.
This cute local village is bound to impress on this Free Time Add-on experience. See Turkish carpets being made, traditional Turkish food being produced, and meet some locals as well. This really is seeing the other side of traditional Turkey up close, and traveller it is awesome. For those keen to kick it on the boat, you can, as you make the rules.
Soak up your last bout of Turkish sea life before we head back to Bodrum for our final evening together - apparently all good things must come to an end (sad face). With all this relaxing, sunbaking, partying and repeating, you're sure to need some rest. Keep it real with a traditional Turkish Hammam, the best place to un-wind and get some baby soft skin. Bliss.

Day 8: Depart Bodrum

Team sobs and many hugs will conclude our Turkish sailing adventure shortly after breakfast. The only thing we can say to ease the pain is this: Contiki has something equally as wonderful going on in Croatia, go get involved.

    • There'll be fun and frolics aplenty on board a traditional Turkish gulet boat where cabins consist of a mix of bunks & double beds however most people choose to sleep under the stars up on deck
    • In addition to breakfast, we'll be keeping you fed and watered with 6 lunches and 7 scrumptious dinners. Think melt-in-your mouth meat platters, salads crumbled with feta and sugar-dusted Turkish delight
    • You'll be safe in the hands of your dedicated captain and crew, who know the currents and streets of Turkey better than you know the hairs on your toes
